Built by the Dutch in the early nineteenth century, Fort de la Chartreuse was used as barracks and as a military hospital by both the Germans and the Allies during WW1 and 2. It has been abandoned for over 30 years, and parts of it are on the verge of collapse. Photos from various visits between 2008-2012.
